Indiscriminate rockets

Meanwhile, during the misguided bombardment the Somali Canadian federation & development top officials were on meeting at Las Anod main office, but with grace of God none of them sustained injuries.

Armed Conflict, between the Somaliland National Army and Civilian Resistence Army in the capital of the Sool region, Las Anod. Clashes intensified on 6 February 2023, after Somaliland security forces held a violent crackdown on civilian protests. Somaliland Armed forces, involved in indiscriminate artillery in Las Anod, resulting in the destruction of public places like, Hospitals, Mosques, schools, electricity, government institutions, water Bohols, 3,000 injured of many innocent civilians. The skirmish have killed over 900 people and evacuated 200,000- refugees. Elderly, children, lactating mothers and people with especial needs have been exiled to the Ethiopian border as well Buhodle.
Abdirisak Mohamud Ali (llkacase) head office of Somali Canadian federation & development organization based in Las Anod described that, more than 100 prominent community leaders, religious scholars and traditional elders were eliminated, in between 2006 and 2022, with in Las Anod and its neighboring areas. Meanwhile Somali Canadian federation & development circulated a press release condemning the attack on the public and private facilities in the city.
The testimonial also included photos of indiscriminate, rocket shelling from Somaliland Armed forces, ratifying the use of weapons prohibited as part of the contemporary UN Somali arms embargo.
The conflict and hunger have afflicted overcrowded camps, and the interim SSC Khatumo State and aid organizations in sool, Sanag and cayn region is lack of resources to meet humanitarian needs. Two-thirds of the population, facing severe food insecurity, the worst hunger crisis the region has ever faced. there has been slow progress in implementing sustainable development projects. Many issues remain unaddressed, including security arrangements, institutional reforms and electoral preparations.
Sool region, had no history of a stable state after British rule, politicized clan identity, the availability of weapons and the presence of a large number of unemployed youth have exacerbated the problem. Farah Isse Hassan proposed ambitious peace-building strategies that attempt to address the key areas of security, political governance, economic development and justice in order to build a durable peace in this region.

25 year old Halimo From Buhodle (not her exact name) fled to Ethiopia, after suffering sexual abuse during the conflict and became separated from her children, she says I want to meet my kids and need family reunification. Conditions in sool, sanaag and cayn comps are miserable/ bleak. Due to the high number of arrivals each day, IDP camps and gatherings are severely overcrowded. Sanitation provision is woefully insufficient, with 250 people sharing one latrine. Cases of Acute water diarrhea (AWD) sexual transmitted deceases (STDs) the measles and severe malnutrition are on the rise. Aid agencies are struggling to meet the dire needs of families exhausted and traumatized after walking for days with little food and water. Even once they arrive at Las Anod IDP camps, there is barely enough food and clean water available for them. More shelters, medicine and basic supplies are desperately needed. Somali Canadian Federation & development, says the number of unaccompanied children and adolescent girls arriving in Las Anod is worrying, particularly as these groups are at the highest risk of sexual exploitation and abuse. Every day, more people arrive in the camps than those who leave.

Primary Education
Currently there are 6 Primary Schools in the city of Las Anod, both public and private schools E.g: Gol Khatumo, Gateway, Abyan, Ilays, Imam Shafi and Sool primary schools.
Secondary Education
Secondary school education is provided by Ilays Educational Academy, Muse Yusuf and Nugaal High Schools.

There are other academic institutions, which provide different education services such as Sool Institute of Health Sciences (SIHS) Al-Furqan Islamic Institute, Sahal Software College, Future Technology Center.
Note: higher learning institutions need to be established in the Las Anod.
The internal conflict virtually wrecked the education system. It is characterized by poor-quality, insufficient numbers of qualified teachers and inadequate resources. In some schools, English and Arabic being the major teaching languages.
